Treated Acres: Fungicide Quick-look

The return to more normal in-season rainfall levels in recent years has brought with it more disease pressure for growers to battle. As a result, treated acres of fungicides increased significantly from 2022 to 2023 and have remained high since then. Through the first seven months of 2025, treated acres of fungicides have been essentially flat compared to the previous year, according to data published in Meister Media’s PURE Intel platform detailing monthly pesticide use report data in California. 

Here’s the treated acreages for the top 10 fungicide brands through the first nine months of this year:

Treated acres have increased from the previous year for most of these top 10 brands but especially BASF’s Cevya fungicide, which was introduced in 2022 and has enjoyed significant growth every year since.

Not surprisingly, tree acres of fungicides have gone predominantly to almonds (up approximately 10% from 2024 and accounting for nearly one-third of the entire fungicide market thus far in 2025. Wine grapes, pistachios, table grapes and strawberries comprise the rest of the top five crops for fungicide applications.
